The Stained glass style turns an image into a pattern of glass pieces separated by lead lines — the came. You can recolour each piece by hand, get an estimate of how much glass you'll need, and print the cutting pattern at full size.
Step 1 — Choose Stained glass
Upload your image and pick the Stained glass style. The studio segments it into pieces automatically.
Step 2 — Shape the pieces
Use the controls to get pieces you can actually cut:
- Pieces from — "Follow edges" cuts along the lines in a drawing or a stained- glass photo; "Auto regions" invents pieces for a normal photo.
- Pieces / Regularity — how many shards and how uniform they are.
- Colours — how many distinct glass colours the pattern uses.
- Came thickness, Smoothing, Min piece size — clean up thin slivers and heavy the lead.
Step 3 — Colour it in
Pick a glass colour from the palette and click any piece in the preview to paint it. Pieces start on the photo's own colours, so you're just refining.
Step 4 — Check the material estimate
The Materials panel totals the glass area per colour and the piece count, scaled to your finished size — a starting point for buying glass. Add ~20% for offcuts.
Step 5 — Print the cutting pattern
Download the tiled cut pattern (the lead lines, at Actual Size) to cut glass from, and the colour plan SVG to keep your design. Turn on Number pieces to label each one for assembly.
What to expect
The pattern follows your image, not a fixed template, so results depend on the source. A clean drawing or a real stained-glass photo cuts along its existing lines; a busy photo is better with fewer Colours and a higher Min piece size so you don't end up with hundreds of tiny, uncuttable shards.
